Last March Fundación MAPFRE launched a humanitarian aid plan for the victims of the ‘El Niño Costero’ natural phenomenon in Peru. Through a system of micro-donations, bags with food and basic necessities were sent to the population of Huachipa, one of the most affected areas near Lima.
In addition, the Foundation coordinated and funded the shipment of four water purification plants, which helped 16,000 people after being installed by six Spanish volunteer firefighters who specialize in this kind of disaster situations. These plants will provide the affected population with fresh drinking water.
