Last January Fundación MAPFRE and the APTB (Professional Firefighting Association) presented the study Victims of Fires in Spain 2015. This study is conducted annually to make accurate information available on fire victims and develop preventive actions. Most noteworthy among its conclusions is the fact that seven of every 10 deaths in homes occur during the coldest months, and that the over-65s account for more than half of all fatalities. Fires are normally due to lack of care with radiators, electric heaters or fireplaces in the home.
